Extranet

Who outside your company still needs your information? Dealers who need current price sheets, suppliers confirming purchase orders, customers downloading their own reports, agencies that need approved logos. An extranet gives each of those groups a login and shows them only what applies to them.

The central design work is the permission model. A distributor should see its own orders and the documents released to its region, and nothing else. We enforce that on the server for every page, search result and file download, so a forwarded link or a guessed document ID returns nothing to the wrong account. Hiding a menu item does not count as access control.

Content lives in one place and is targeted by group, so a spec sheet updated once reaches every partner who should have it. Where partners contribute, such as a supplier uploading certificates or a rep posting a case study, submissions can go through an approval step before other users see them. An extranet can also read from the CRM or ERP so partners see live order status, which is where it overlaps with our portal work.
